In 2003, the company represented New Mexico in the Great American Water Taste Test in Washington, D.C., where it was recognized as one of America’s Top Five Drinking Water Systems.

A Recognition Worth Remembering

Lake Section Water Company first earned recognition through the New Mexico Rural Water Association’s Quality On Tap! program. That honor gave Lake Section the opportunity to represent New Mexico at the national level during the Fourth Annual Great American Water Taste Test.

For a local water utility serving Chaparral and southern New Mexico, this recognition was especially meaningful. It showed that a community water system could stand alongside some of the best rural and small drinking water systems in the United States.

At the national event, finalists from across the country were evaluated on the quality, clarity, bouquet, and taste of their drinking water. Lake Section Water Company was selected as one of the top five finalists, placing it among some of the highest-recognized drinking water systems in the nation.

This achievement remains an important part of Lake Section Water Company’s history and reflects the care, attention, and commitment involved in providing clean, high-quality drinking water to the Chaparral community.
