Billing & Payments

Lake Section Water Company bills customers on a monthly basis. Your water bill includes two main components:

Base Facility Charge

A fixed monthly charge based on the size of the water meter serving the property. This charge helps support the fixed costs of operating and maintaining the water system, including wells, storage, distribution infrastructure, customer service, and system readiness.

Water Usage Charge

A usage-based charge calculated from the amount of water used during the billing period, as measured by the customer’s water meter.
Lake Section Water Company is a regulated utility. Rates, fees, and service terms are subject to review and approval by the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission.

Payment Options

Customers may pay their bill by mailing their payment with their statement, visiting the Lake Section Water Company office in person, or calling the office to pay by credit card.

Start, Stop, or Transfer Service

Customers who need to start, stop, or transfer water service should contact the Lake Section Water Company office directly.

Service requests may require a completed application, account information, property details, desired service date, and applicable deposits or fees. The office can provide current application requirements for new service, re-hook-up, transfer, service address changes, deposits, desired service dates, and disconnect or transfer requests..

If you are moving or need to discontinue service, please contact the office before your requested service change date. The company may need to complete a final meter reading and provide final billing information.

Leaks, Service Issues & Repairs

For leaks, outages, low pressure, possible water main breaks, or urgent water issues, please call Lake Section Water Company directly at (575) 824-4731.

Website messages and email may not be monitored immediately, so urgent water issues should be reported by phone.

Repair responsibility depends on where the issue is located and what equipment is involved. In general, Lake Section Water Company maintains the public water system and company-owned equipment, while property owners are responsible for private plumbing and water lines serving their property.

Customers should not operate company-owned meter or curb shut-off valves. Please contact the office if water service needs to be turned on, turned off, or inspected.

Water Quality

Lake Section Water Company provides drinking water from local groundwater wells drawing from the Hueco Bolson aquifer system.
